Resigning from Credit Courses
Disclaimer: Information presented on this page gives an unofficial overview of the resignation process and is for general information purposes only. An official statement, which overrides any details on this page, is the responsibility of the University Bursar. We strongly suggest you confirm with the University Bursar's website to make sure you have the most accurate and binding information available.
Resigning from CREDIT courses is possible provided you resign within a certain time frame and provide the appropriate paperwork.
You will be assessed payment and/or grade penalties if you drop the course too late or do not submit a resignation form!
- Keep track of Tuition Refund Policy for the semester to make sure you are aware of upcoming penalty dates.
- If you decide to resign, you MUST complete a Resignation/Withdrawal Form. Contact VTOnline and we will assist you in submitting the form. If you don't complete the form, you will not receive a refund and may receive a failing grade for the course.
- You can resign without financial penalty, if you do so by the first day of classes for the term. After that, the amount of your refund decreases as time passes. In other words, the further you get into the course, the less money you get back. Eventually, you cannot get a refund of tuition. You can resign without grade penalty during the open DROP/ADD period. After the DROP/ADD period, you are assigned a grade of F (failing) for the course even if you officially drop/resign from the course.
