Summary

Companies in the healthcare, food, pharmaceutical, biologics, and medical device industries must be able to correctly assess the risks associated with their processes and products. These assessments must take into account both the actual risks and the variety of regulatory requirements impacting those risk assessments. These industries require highly-skilled and educated individuals with training in risk management. Hence, innovative university programs offering graduate-level learning opportunities with a primary focus on risk management are needed.

To meet this need, Virginia Tech has developed an online 30-hour Master of Science in Life Science, with an Option in Health Product Risk Management, comprised of 24 graduate hours of coursework (including three hours of Statistics) and six graduate hours of project/report credit.

Ideal candidates for this program will have significant experience working in industry, regulatory agencies, testing laboratories, and/or consulting firms, and will be ready to utilize their established background as a foundation for new learning and exploration.
