Virginia Tech's Mission Statement serves as the foundation for all educational programs and services at Virginia Tech, including online (or distance) education programs. Likewise, Virginia Tech's administrative structure is the same for distance education as it is for campus-based education. Strategic Plan

Distance learning is included in Virginia Tech's six-year strategic plan, A Plan for a New Horizon, Envisioning Virginia Tech 2012-2018. The Virginia Tech Information Technology Strategic Plan 2012-2018 and the Information Technology Operational Plan for 2014-2016 include services that directly support distance learning aspects of the university's strategic plan.

Approved SARA Institution
